On 3 June 2006, Kay Hyatt, Simon Murphy and I played our second ever 123s performance at Nomocrime, which was the last ever Homocrime event.
The 123s is our pretend band project.
We sang a song called O Lucky Man! which is from the 1973 Lindsay Anderson film of the same name. We really love that song and we'd been practising it for a while. Kay plays the apple bass, Simon plays guitar, we have a drum machine and I also play a guitar, even though I don't know how to play one. Simon tuned all the strings on mine to the same note and all I do is strum it dramatically at the right moment. And we all sing.
I made a zine to go with the performance. It's very good! I have a few copies left, in case anyone wants one, it doesn't cost anything, just email your postal address to beefergrrl@hotmail.com and I'll send you one.
There is a recording of us singing O Lucky Man!, you can get it at the Homocrime website, through the Singles Club (it's on Exhibit I), or listen to it here (mp3, 3.65mb).
...and here's Simon singing Changes (mp3, 829kb), from the same film soundtrack. What a beautiful and timely song.
